Data Entry
Click on the link for of the lesson for which you are entering missed questions.
Enter the name and address of the student.
Check the box next to each question missed.
Enter the e-mail address at which you would like to receive the return letter.
As of 3/12/17 this field is optional. If a validly formatted e-mail address is entered, the script will attempt to send the e-mail (it will still fail if it is not a valid e-mail, e.g. misspelled names). If left blank, or something that is not a properly formatted e-mail address is entered, the letter will still be generated and will be found on the return letter page.
Optionally, enter the date for the return letter. Leaving this blank will default to today's date.
Press the Submit button when finished.
Return Letter
Allow as much as 5 minutes to receive your e-mail. The more questions missed, the longer the processing takes. I would say that most e-mails show up 1-2 minutes.
The letter in the e-mail is in pdf format. G-mail will assist you in opening it, or a program that can read pdf may be used to open the letter.
Select the print option available to you, ensuring that you have chosen to print on both sides of the paper.
If your student needs to retake the course, your return letter will explain this to the student.
Return Letters Page
There is a section on this page for each lesson.
Return letters can be found here in their native Google Docs format. You may find your files and print from here directly.
These files will be available to you for approximately 72 hours (3 days) after which they will be deleted.
Q: Why didn't I receive my return letter?
A: First, make sure you've allowed a couple of minutes and check again. The next most likely reason is that you entered your e-mail incorrectly. You may check the Return Letters page to see if your letter appears there. The last possibility is that there was a server-side error (too many requests in a given time-frame for the scripts that run) or that the server was down for some reason. In this case, it would probably be best to wait a while and re-enter your data to see if the problem has cleared up, or create your letter the old-fashioned way.
Q: The forms used to remember names and addresses. Why doesn't it do that any more?
A: Google changed the way the fields in the forms work (see this link). They haven't been in any hurry to fix this. It broke around January 2016.
Q: I don't see any return letters for lesson 2 or 4. Where did they go?
A: Most likely you are using a device with a small screen (i.e. Smartphone). For some reason that second column does not show up on smaller screens. Either rotate your phone to landscape or try viewing with a tablet or computer.
